“I was once the last in class for Math (scored F9). With the right guidance, I became the first in class. Eventually I got A1 for O-Level A-Math and E-Math. If I can do it, so can our students! Reach the full potential with the help from our teachers!”
MR LIM

“Simplicity is the key to my effective teaching. Though it can be challenging, I always strive to make mathematical concepts simple to understand and difficult problems easy to solve. My lessons are often light-hearted as it is my belief that one should be trying to make mathematics as entertaining as possible, as well as relevant to the modern world. As an educator, I am constantly thinking of ways to engage the students’ minds and nothing is more fulfilling than having students finally grasp a difficult Mathematical concept after grappling with it. It is my hope that through Mathematics, students learn that with hard work, strategy and perseverance, we can always find a solution.”
SERENE
Teacher (Secondary Additional Math, Secondary Math)
Bachelor of Science, National University of Singapore
“I endeavour to instil the joy of learning in every student to help them to be successful, both in academic and in life. I often encourage them by sharing with them my personal life experiences. I do not hesitate to spend more effort with my students who are weaker to ensure that they have understood the concepts and methods well.”
KELLY
Teacher (Secondary Math)
Bachelor of Business (Honours), Nanyang Technological University
“I dedicate myself in nurturing the younger generation and guiding them closer to their goals each day. With a love towards Mathematics, I strive to transform Mathematics into an exciting adventure. I actively seek out to help weaker students who require more time and effort. Every student deserves a chance to love Mathematics as much as I do!”
YAN YI
Teacher (Secondary Math)
Bachelor of Science (Undergraduate), Singapore Management University
“Curious and adventure-loving. I love exploring the new and trying the untested. I yearn to share my knowledge and skills with my students to allow them to grow holistically as a person, and venture out of their comfort zones to try their best in a subject many students struggle with or hates, Mathematics. I believe learning should not be a one-way lecture from the teacher and not be restricted to just the syllabus in textbooks. Learning and teaching should be fun and engaging, which is what I strive to deliver so that I can help make a hated subject more fun for the students. I also strongly believe in providing a safe space for my students to share their opinions and thoughts as I believe learning is best done in a group where everyone learns from their peers around them and discover new ways of solving a problem or coming up with a solution.”
SU YUN
Teacher (Secondary Math)
Bachelor of Business Management (Undergraduate), Singapore Management University
“I enjoy helping students frame the way they think when it comes to mathematics. To me learning is all about asking questions, and I make it a point to ask my students questions using real life examples to give them opportunities to think and help them frame their thinking when solving math problems. I understand the difficulties that students face when learning something new and foreign, so I always make the effort to check their understanding before moving on to the next topic.”
EVELYN
Teacher (Secondary Math)
Bachelor of Science (Undergraduate), National University of Singapore
“Among other things, I believe that success comes from the combination of determination, diligence, and having the right support, which is why I hope to instil such values in my students and be a teacher who can guide them in their journey. Learning a new concept can be difficult, and I acknowledge how demoralising it can be to not be able to understand what was being taught. My approach is to break down the concepts and problems into smaller parts, providing a step-by-step guidance for students to connect the dots and shape the way they approach the respective problems. I also strive to foster a sense of community in the class, to provide an open and safe space for my students to have the courage to share their thoughts, ask questions, and make mistakes.”
RUTH
Teacher (Secondary Math)
Bachelor of Science (Undergraduate), National University of Singapore
“I wish to instil the joy of learning in all my students so that they can form good study habits that will carry them throughout their academic journey. In class, I always make sure that no student is left behind, focusing more on weaker students and ensuring that they fully grasp the topic before moving on. Mathematics is a rewarding subject, as long as my students put in their best, I am sure that their efforts will pay off.”
MS TAN
Teacher (Primary Math)
Bachelor of Computer Science (Undergraduate), National University of Singapore
“I wish to inspire my students to be curious and resilient problem-solvers. To ensure that my students are always thinking and paying attention, I would always ask them questions in class to engage them and to train their thought processes in problem-solving. I would often guide them in their answers to train their thinking process and encourage them so that they do not feel bad about not knowing the correct answers. By constantly encouraging them and guiding them, I aim to slowly built their confidence in answering questions. This will eventually allow them to become more resilient problem-solvers as they are less likely to give up on a question when they believe in themselves and have more confidence in solving the question.”
RAYNA
Teacher (Primary Math)
Bachelor of Business Administration (Undergraduate), National University of Singapore
“I strive to inculcate a love for learning in all my students so they can have a positive and healthy relationship with their studies which will carry them through their student life. I create a warm environment for my students to ask questions to ensure no one is left behind. My goal is for every student to see improvement in their understanding and uncover their own potential.”
